Trick-or-treat!

Jacob and Ethan were Thing 1 & Thing 2 (from Dr. Seuss' "The Cat in the Hat") for Halloween this year. This was the first year Jacob went out trick-or-treating and he got the hang of it very quickly!

We had dinner at Aunt Kim & Uncle John's house before we went out. Aunt Kim, Daddy, Ethan and I went around the neighborhood with Jacob for his very first time out. When we stopped at the first house, The lady bent down to let Jacob pick a candy from the bowl. Jacob already had 2 pieces of candy in his bucket from our neighbors, so he tried to give the lady his candy! It was so cute. By the time we got to the third house, Jacob knew the drill. Ring the bell, someone gives you candy, and move on! He even started saying "trick-or-treat" by the fifth house.

By the end of the cul de sac, Jacob's bucket was getting very heavy for him, but he would absolutely not allow anyone to help him. He would yell "Mine!" if you came anywhere near his beloved candy. So, the boy struggled to carry the thing back home. Don't worry, he didn't have that much candy, and he was out at bedtime.

Of course, Ethan slept through the entire thing. Maybe next year he can join in the fun.
