11 Months

Jacob,

What a month we've had - you finally have a tooth!!! It poked through on June 10th, Just in time for your 11 month birthday. You had a bit of a hard time with it, there was a lot of crying, pain, and an overall not feeling well, but luckily it only lasted for about 2-3 days. It is amazing how a tooth can suddenly make you seem so much older.
You have definitely grown taller, seemingly overnight. One day all of your pants fit, then the next, they were all too short! However, you are still a skinny boy - the waist on all of your pants are huge on you.
This month you had an impromptu trip to the beach, which was the first time you went on the sand and into the water. We were are Pacific Beach with some friends for a walk along the boardwalk, when we decided to sit on the sand for a bit. You didn't seem to mind sitting on the sand, but you didn't like the sand on your hands - especially when you stuck your thumb in your mouth, or rubbed your eyes. We also walked to the water and put your feet in the surf. You like it at first, but when you got too wet, and I think a little cold, you decided that you just wanted to be held. You weren't quite sure you liked it all that much, but I bet if we go again, you'll like it more.
Just recently you started scooting things around the house. For instance, you'll take a book (or sock, toy, paper, anything really) and hold it on the floor with one hand then start crawling around. Its almost like you are pushing a car around all day. You can spend an hour just scooting something around your room, down the hallway, into the living room, then back again.

I think you are going to be walking fairly soon. You have become very comfortable cruising around the furniture - you'll be walking around the couch and reach over to the ottoman and keep on walking around that too. You also like it when we hold your hands and walk you around. We can tell by the look on your face that you wish you could be running around on your own with all the other kids you see. I know our lives will get much busier when you start walking, but I am looking forward to you gaining that Independence and start playing with the neighborhood kids.

You have started that you know the difference between what is right and wrong - and you love to test the waters! You will crawl over to the fireplace, sit down and put your hand up as if you are going to crawl onto it, but you look at us first, smile, then do it. You are such a little stinker! You also go crawling down the hallway at full speed, wanting us to chase you. If we happen to not chase you, you'll sit down and wait until we come, then take off once you see us. Sometimes you actually come back to where we are, as if saying "didn't you notice I took off? You are supposed to chase me!" It will be interesting to see how much you test the boundaries as you get older.

This month we also celebrated your dad's first Father's Day! Although we all spent the day together, we did something a little unconventional - we all worked on the kitchen. We currently are redoing our kitchen, so your dad, Tito, and tio Joshua worked on the kitchen while your Grandma Arlene, you, and I kept the boys company. In the afternoon we had a very nice BBQ dinner outside with everyone. Unfortunately, your Tita is in Mexico City, so she couldn't celebrate with us.

We are now counting down to your birthday! We are looking forward to it!

Love you,
Mami
