Eight months
Querido Jacob,
What a fun time we have had this past month! You are now eight months old and such a happy little boy. You have been keeping us very busy - life with you is non-stop. If you aren't exploring all of your toys, you are climbing onto the fireplace, crawling to the radio to bang on it, or simply following us around the house. Your Tito took care of you last week, and he was tired by the time we came to pick you up!
You are starting to look more like a little boy, and not so much like a baby. This look is the quintessential Jacob look, smiling! You can now sit up on your own very well. Although, you prefer to be on your tummy since that allows you to move around more. I'm serious, you don't sit still for one second!

You and you Papi love to take baths together. The moment you hear the tub filling up with water, you get so excited! It is so much fun to watch you kick the water and splash around. You think it is the greatest thing when you slap the water and it splashes up. Although you enjoy baths in your little tub, nothing beats taking a big boy bath with your Papi. Those are memories your Papi and I will treasure forever.

You have been on solid foods for a while now, however you have a very picky palate. You know what you don't like and you make it perfectly clear to us. You really like yogurt, bananas, and avocados. I tried mixing other veggies with the yogurt to get you to eat them, but you are too smart for me! Although, you did seem to like zucchini and sweet potatoes last week - you menu might actually expand beyond three things!

This month you have really developed you hand coordination. You are able to pick things up with ease and quickly find your mouth. We have had to become diligent about what we leave within your reach, because it will go into your mouth if you get your hands on it! Also, when you pick things up, you like to bang them - preferably on a hard surface so you can make noise, the louder the better. It's a good thing our hardwood floors are durable because you sure do like to spend a lot of time banging your toys on them!

This month you have also started "talking" a lot more. You like to babble all day long, and it is music to my ears! Mostly, you say "pa, pa, pa" or "da, da, da" and when I say "no papa say mama" you just look at me and laugh. Little stinker. When I was in labor, your Papi told me he wanted you to say mama first, but I think your Papi might have the honors of hearing his name first. Oh well, I still love to hear you talk all day.

We have been going to the park a lot lately, especially since the weather has been so nice lately (even though it is winter, it has been in the 70s!). You love to lay on a blanket and people watch. Whenever you see kids playing, you seem to want to get up and run around with them - soon enough you will be able to. When we aren't at the park, I sometimes lay a blanket out on our front lawn and play - you really do like the fresh air.
