Seven Months!

Dearest Jacob,

You are seven months today. I know this is a total cliche, but our time with you has gone by in the blink of an eye! Last night your dad and I kept repeating - seven months, how is it possible that seven months have gone by so quickly? Well, seven months has gone by quickly, and we wouldn't change anything about them.

This past month has been very interesting - you are truly becoming a little boy. Most importantly, you have become a mobile busy-body. You don't have a traditional crawl, but you are able to scoot across the floor in an "army crawl" - pushing yourself with your feet and pulling with your arms. You did this modified crawl for the first time on January 21st in Camas, Washington. Although we were very excited, I immediately became afraid that our days with you were about to become a whole lot busier! It took several weeks, but you are now following me around the living room and climbing onto the fireplace - yikes!

The next most exciting event of the past month is your menu change - you have started eating baby food! Your first impression of rice cereal was that you liked to play with it, or more specifically, blow bubbles with it. Once some actually got into your mouth, you realized that it didn't taste all that bad and willingly ate it. Next, we tried to give you carrots which you refused to eat. The carrots spent all of 1 second in your mouth before you stuck your tongue out with the carrots on them and refused to do anything until they were taken off your tongue. It was quite hilarious. You haven't been too crazy about peas, but will eat them. You like bananas a little more, but you still make a funny face while eating them. It will just take time for you to get used to them.

This month we took a mini-family vacation - we flew up to Portland, OR to stay with Grandpa Gary and Beckie for a few days in Camas, WA. Then we drove their car (which they gave to us) to California, stopping along the way to see your great-uncle Mark and Theresa, to see the Holcomb family, the Sharp family, your great-uncle and great-aunt Wayne and Phyllis and Rachel, we went to Patty and Warren's wedding, then saw the Lio family, the Clader family, and the Merrill family. It was a whirlwind trip, but it was great to see so many friends and family. You did wonderful in the car, especially considering that you spent so many hours strapped to your car seat!

Yes, this is you on a mini-horse! Your Uncle Brian and Aunt Debbie have this mini-horse named Denny - you had your first horse ride!

Sorry for the shortage of pictures this month, but our camera is in the process of dying, so we haven't been able to take too many pictures. Your dad is in the process of getting us a new one.

Love you,
Mami
