Aloha Maui!

Ryan and I had an opportunity to spend a week in Maui, so of course, we jumped at the chance! Rain Bird hosted an event for contractors in Ka'anapali, Maui, and having never been there myself, we worked it out so that I could go with Ryan, plus a few extra play days. We had a fantastic time!

The boys stayed in San Diego with my parents, and they all had a blast. It was nice to have a little get away, just Ryan and me. Although we were there for a Rain Bird function, we had a chance to do some amazing activities, eat fantastic food, and meet people from all over. I enjoyed some time on the beach and by the pool. Get this - I actually got bored one day! It was so wonderful!

Everyone is so friendly in Hawaii! I guess that's what happens when you are on vacation or live in such a beautiful place.
One of the many beautiful beaches we visited. We had yummy macadamia pancakes while looking at this view.

We went ATVing! It was so much fun! And, very dusty! When we got to the end destination up the mountain, we went on some water slides into a reservoir. Fun, fun!

Ryan and I enjoying a walk in Lahaina.

We had a beautiful sunset for the closing night extravaganza. And quite an extravaganza it was! There was hula dancers, fire dancers, great decorations, and food galore.

We got up at 2:30 am to drive one hour to get to the bike company that took us up to the crater of the Haleakala Volcano (10,023 ft elevation). Why? Because the sunrise is spectacular! It was a toasty 38 degrees, but the view... wow.
After watching the sunrise, the bike company took us to 6,500 feet, gave us bikes, then let us ride back down the mountain. It was so awesome to experience the curvy road, the great views, and biking down into the clouds. Plus, not much pedaling since it is all downhill!

Because waking up at 2:30 am isn't enough, we decided to make the drive to Hana the same day! It was a gorgeous drive, also the windiest road in the world. It was a tough 57 mile drive with over 60 single lane bridges, but it was worth it. Not much in Hana though, so we drove on to the O'heo Gulch, a hike through a series of pools and waterfalls...

Our hike went through a very dense bamboo forest. This picture was taken at 3 pm. It was eerily dark in there!

We made it to the waterfall!

Taking a break in the river rock bed before heading back down.

Ryan did a great job stacking rocks! It was the best one there, but unfortunately, it fell over as we were walking away.

HUGE banyan tree!

Our last day... we had so much fun, but couldn't wait to get back to see Jacob and Ethan!
